Is it the venue, the roads, the club friendly people, the catering, the weather, the camaraderie and absence of breakdown and accident?
All of the above, I would suggest and all these pluses applied to the recent 23rd annual Singleton Rally.
As a regular entrant, I have seen some very ordinary weather conditions, of which no human has control. This year it was absolutely perfect to the delight of all entrants.
Clear sunny skies and still conditions greeted the riders all weekend, making riding on mainly sealed country roads a pleasure.
The morning tea and lunch stops catered for in only the way the country wives can provide, fit for a king if I may say so, a strong spirit of camaraderie, help given to those unfortunate enough to encounter minor faults and the back-up recovery trailer for anyone needing something of a minor nature.
On reflection I would say the weather was the greatest advantage we experienced. It was faultless.
How could that be improved? The organisation was excellent so there we no complaints in that direction, so I would suggest, like me, all the entrants left the Singleton Rally well fed and well satisfied, vowing to return next May, God willing.
Now let the rain fall on Singleton.
