Mullet strips, mullet gut, yabbies and prawns will take fish. Mulloway have put in an appearance and fish to 10kgs were caught early in the week on live bait.
Good flathead to 4kgs were landed in the back water on hard bodied lures. Tailor to 3kgs have been biting well on the spit in the mouth of the river. Several anglers have secured good bags of these larger fish. As the seas decrease Crowdy Beach would be worth a try as well as the rocks at Crowdy Head and Diamond Head.
Best times to fish for tailor are at first light and in the evening before dark. Outside anglers have boated snapper, trag and flathead as well as mac tuna and long-tailed tuna on trolled lures.
