Greg is an engineer and Christian adventurer who lives at Old Bar. He is currently working in Maitland and is readying to travel to Jerusalem where he has a six month contract working for the UN.

His latest book is a collection of four short stories about “life-changing encounters with Jesus”.

The lead story follows the life transformation of Bali Nine ring-leader Andrew Chan and his eventual execution on the Indonesian prison island of Nusa Kambangan, Greg said.

“The stories appeal to Christians and non-Christians alike; they portray individuals with real-life issues that require intervention – not unlike us all.”

Greg says he draws on his experiences of working and travelling the world for inspiration in his stories. His strong connection with the ocean through his decades of surfing lifestyle has heightened his love for the natural world and God’s creation, he says.

Greg’s work as a civil engineer in the humanitarian sphere has opened his eyes to the plight of humanity in the developing world, which is so different to his own experiences from the land of plenty. He has lived as a Christian in a third world Muslim country and has observed the best and worst of both religions and the impact it has on their societies.

Greg is encouraged by people who “have a go”, those who are willing to contribute to their communities in whatever way they can, to help the living. 

He was born and bred in the Steel City of Newcastle.

His first book, ‘There are No Waves in Mogadishu’, follows Greg’s exploits in building a food warehouse, and upgrading a shipping port for the United Nations’ World Food Program in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, the most dangerous city on earth
