The 25-piece band are performing at the Club Taree Auditorium on Saturday, May 26 at 6.30pm.
The event has been organised by Specsavers Taree’s Helen Bell, who will also be performing as part of the band.
“It is a cause that is very close to my heart and one that the team here at Specsavers Taree care greatly about,” Helen said.
“Four out of five people who are blind don’t need to be, but because more than a third of indigenous adults have never had an eye exam, disorders go undiagnosed and indigenous people are more likely to have poor eye health. That’s why funding for the foundation is so vital, and why we are asking the community to come out and enjoy some music while also contributing to this very worthy cause,” she said.
Supporting on the night, the team at Specsavers Taree will have a stall set up where they will clean and adjust glasses for a $1 donation to the fundraiser.
Taree Lions Club will also be collecting pre-loved glasses for their Recycle For Sight Program, as well as selling raffle tickets with top prizes including a $500 and $200 voucher for Specsavers Taree, amongst others.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 16, and can be purchased at Specsavers Taree, Bass n Blues Music Megastore and Club Taree. As the venue was generously donated by Club Taree, all proceeds from ticket and raffle sales will be going directly to The Fred Hollows Foundation.
For each pair of glasses purchased at Specsavers stores around the country, customers are given a token that represents a donation to either The Fred Hollows Foundation or a local charity chosen by each locally-owned store.
This commitment to improving the eye health of regional Australians has led to the Specsavers Community Program raising more than $2 million for The Fred Hollows Foundation since 2012 and a further $1.2 million for hundreds of local charities across the country.
