Fire and Rescue NSW Taree and officers attached to Manning Great Lakes Police attended to the scene.
“Our crew reported to the site at about 10.15pm and took about 15 to 20 minutes to put out the fire,” Taree Fire Station Commander Peter Willard said.
The fire did not spread to nearby bushland.
No one was injured in the incident.
There were reports that the vehicle was spotted earlier in the day backfiring.
The shell of the car remained on the side of the road on the morning of Tuesday, May 15.
