The home side led 2-0 at the half time break. Next weekend the Redbacks will return to Laurieton to take on Kempsey Saints while Wallis Lake will make the trip to Port Macquarie to play against Port Saints.
In Tuncurry, Port Saints took a point from the match with a 2-2 draw against Tuncurry Forster Tigers. Both sides scored a goal in each half and couldn’t be split at the full time whistle. The point gets the Tigers off the mark for the season and they now take on the Taree Wildcats next weekend. Saints will welcome Wallis Lake to Findlay Park next Saturday.
Macleay Valley Rangers made it four wins from four to start the season with a 4-1 win over Wauchope at Fairmont Gardens. A blistering first half saw Rangers lead 4-0 before Wauchope put in a much improved second half. Rangers move into top spot on the ladder above Port United, who didn’t play in the League this weekend. The two sides will face each other next weekend at Dangar Street. Wauchope will have the bye next weekend. The Taree/Port United match was postponed because of United’s FFA Cup match at Coffs Harbour.
Kempsey Saints had the bye in the League and saw their FFA Cup run come to an end in round four against Boambee Bombers in Coffs Harbour. Saints will travel to Laurieton to take on the Redbacks next weekend.
