Trustee, Meaghan Lucas said the timeline of June 30 is to allow an appropriate time frame to re-home any cats and kittens still currently in care.
“Although we have some lovely people who support us and have done for many years, it should not be left to these kind people to shoulder the work load of a community problem.
“Unfortunately, with no financial support from Local Government, State Government or Federal Government it’s only due to fundraising and donations that keep us out of the red.
“Our dream of moving to a larger more efficient place has not come to fruition, not without trying. This is due to a lack of financial help.
“The pet food donation bins in Coles and Woolies Forster and Coles Taree will stay in place until the May 22, they will then be removed. We thank the stores that have kindly accommodated them for years and the kind people that have donated to the bins over the years.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the fantastic people and businesses that have played a big part in our rescue, and our volunteers that have put in hours in the cattery over the years and turned up rain, hail or shine. Thank you.
“To all our supporters who have donated, turned up at our fundraising events, shared our posts and most importantly adopted from us. Thank you.
“Please note that although MVAR is closing, Taree Boarding Kennels is still fully open for business.”
