The piano section of the 51st annual Taree and District Eisteddfod is underway at the Manning Entertainment Centre.
Friday, May 4, saw competitors as young as six take the stage to be adjudicators in restricted and novice piano solo and piano ensemble.
The piano section continues on Saturday, May 5, with sessions at 9am, 1.30pm and 6.30pm, and Sunday, May 6, with sessions at 9.30am and 1pm.
The Sunday afternoon session features junior, intermediate and senior piano championships.
Following the championships is awards presentation. Awards include championship winners, encouragement awards, aggregate pointscore awards, the Denva Bird memoriala ward, canteen scholarships to be used for tuition, and Smile scholarships. Smile scholarships are an initiative of the Taree and District Eisteddfod Society and supported by donations from the community.
The eisteddfod continues on Tuesday, May 8 with the dance section, the biggest section of the eisteddfod. The novice dance section runs from May 8 to May 11.
The “groups weekend” begins on Friday evening, May 11 and continues on the Saturday, with sessions at 8.30am, 11.30am, 3pm and 6.30pm and the Sunday with sessions 8.30am, 11.30am and 3pm.
