Notwithstanding the weather, the event was very well attended by the community and veterans.
The commemorative address was about the first battle of Amman, Palestine in 1918 and given by the RSL Sub-branch president, Geoff Gillard. A better sound system was employed this year and the volunteer ladies did a great job serving up the traditional breakfast.
A decision had already been made the previous evening that the main Anzac service would be held inside Club Old Bar as the greens were already quite wet and it was not desirable that they carry foot traffic, with more rain overnight predicted.
Whether to continue with a march or not was not decided until mid morning when it appeared to be fining up and in the end, the march took place and was just as well supported as in previous years. Newcomers to the march this year were students from Taree Christian College.
A big crowd was present at Club Old Bar for this service which was guided by the Old Bar Public School leaders.
The commemorative address was given by Ian Dimmock on the charge of the Light Brigade at Beer Sheba.
