The meetings, which have become a regular event for the MidCoast Council management team since the merger, kicked off last week in Taree and Hallidays Point, and continued in Old Bar this week.
They provide residents with an opportunity to find out what has being progressed or is in the pipeline, not only across the entire region but with a local slant for each individual community.
“We’ve had very positive feedback in the past, and based on the three meetings held to date, the forum has again been very well received,” Steve Embry, MidCoast Council’s acting general manager, said.
Attendance at Hallidays Point saw more than 120 residents come along to engage in a conversation with the management team about local issues.
“Each presentation is tailored to ensure the content is relevant to that specific community”, Steve said. “It’s a great way for us to keep updated on what’s important to each community and gain valuable insight that will ultimately help us deliver better services for everyone”.
Common areas of interest out of the three meetings held so far has included discussion around the appointment of council’s new general manager, the potential office relocation to Biripi Way in Taree, and the strategy for improving the region’s local transport network.
Resuming from next Monday, April 30 in Wingham, the meetings will roll out to Forster, Tea Gardens, Gloucester, Bulahdelah, and Harrington, finishing in Stroud on Wednesday, May 16.
The schedule of dates, locations and times for remaining meetings is listed below, and online at www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/communitymeetings
