Highlights of the groups itinerary included a visit to Jacaranda Estate winery, Wingham Brush, Wingham Nursery, Wingham Museum, some retail therapy in our main street and of course a selection of local gardens to admire.
George welcomed the group to his Killabakh property with a delicious Devonshire Tea (thanks to mum), a walk and talk around his six-acre garden, followed by a yummy lunch and concluding with a few songs!
“Garden club members were overwhelmed by George’s hospitality, his generosity and thoroughly enjoyed his spontaneous outburst of song, leaving the club with many happy memories to take back home,” said club secretary Cheryl Martin.
As many will be aware, George regularly holds fundraising events in his garden, with the funds primarily supporting Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW.
With the proceeds from a raffle and luncheon organised for Killcare Heights Garden Club, plus a few other recent activities, George will shortly be presenting a cheque to Ronald McDonald House for $1000.
Over the past decade George has raised more than $50,000 for this very worthwhile charity which provides comfort and care to many local families.
