For several shooters, this was their first experience of the Inverell range which is known for conditions which produce a high degree of mirage. This was certainly the case for this event.
Competitors travelled from all over country NSW together with a few from Queensland. While the banter on the range was friendly, make no mistake the level of competition was very serious.
Several of the Wingham Rifle Club members finished with medals, badges and prizes to take home.
Most notable were Robert Bartlett, who shot consistently all campaign. Bartlett finished with the overall win in F Standard B-grade on a score of 342 and 20 centres, which has now pushed him up into A-grade. Chris Barnard was close behind with a final tally of 339 and 14 centres to take home second place overall in F standard B-grade.
In target rifle Andrew Geary was consistent across all ranges to complete his weekend tally of 286 and 24 centres finishing in third place overall in B-grade.
