The Ratz took on Gloucester with the visitors getting the result 34-14.
Honours were even after the first stanza, however, Gloucester’s greater experience told in the second half.
Gloucester played in the Mid North Coast sevens competition last year while the majority of the Ratz players are new to sevens rugby this season. Ratz coach Mitch Carter was generally happy with his side’s performance.
However, the Ratz will face another strong challenge this Saturday when they tackle Old Bar Clams at Old Bar.
The Clams looked impressive when accounting for Forster-Tuncurry 38-5 in the opening round.
Wallamba will make their debut in the sevens on Saturday when they head to Gloucester for what also should be an interesting clash. All five LNC clubs will field women’s sevens teams.
