The students visited to look at an exhibition titled Buzz Art – an exhibition on bees with photography by local photographer Carol Saul, and artwork by Jenni Catt, who works in watercolour and charcoal. Jenni also has honey for sale at the gallery.
Jennifer would like to see more schools taking the opportunity to visit art galleries.
“I think the educational opportunities that are there are really great for the community at large,” she said.
Buzz Art is not only an exhibition to showcase bees in artwork, but to emphasise the importance of bees.
“We had a local person from the Beekeeping Association to talk to the kids as well,” Jennifer said.
The Buzz Art exhibition was officially openened on March 17 by renowned wildlife artist and illustator Peter Schouten. It will remain open to the end of April.
A Little to the Left Studio and Gallery is above the Taree Literary Institute, 129 Victoria Street Taree. Opening hours are from Wednesday to Friday, 9.30am to 4pm. Entry is free.
