Fishing Club
Lansdowne Fishing Club’s next outing is this weekend, April 7 and 8. The weigh in is from 2pm on Sunday at the Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation Club, followed by the monthly meeting. Their next seafood raffle will be Saturday April 14, with 10 seafood trays and 10 meat trays, as well as their $40 supporter’s tray. The Fishing Club pairs bowls is on Saturday April 14 starting at 2.30pm. Anyone wishing to have a game can put their name down at the club’s notice board.

Social Darts
Lansdowne Social Darts will be held at the Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation Club this evening, Friday April 6, after the raffles.
Anzac Day
The Anzac Day Dawn Service will commence at 4.45am at the memorial at the Lansdowne Bowling Club on Thursday, April 26. Breakfast will follow and will be provided for a gold coin donation. There is a list at Lansdowne post office and at the club for those wishing to attend the breakfast. The main service will be at 11.00am. All school students and veterans who are marching are requested to be at the Bowling Club ready to assemble by 10.50am.
Lunch will be available from the club bistro following the parade. There is a list at the post office and the club for names for the lunch. There will also be a display of military memorabilia in the auditorium as well as artwork from both Lansdowne and Upper Lansdowne schools. Two-up st at 1.00pm.
Women’s football
Lansdowne Women’s football team have their first home game this evening, Friday April 6, kicking off around 6.15 pm at Lansdowne oval. It would be nice to see all Lansdowne teams and community members going along to support them. The canteen opens from 5.30pm with a launch of the club’s surprise.
Men’s bowls
Lansdowne Men’s Bowling Club will he holding a trivia night on Saturday evening, April 21 at the Lansdowne Bowling Club Auditorium. It will be $5 per participant (kids under 16 free) and team registrations from 6pm. The action starts at 7pm and everyone is welcome to go along for a fun evening. School news
The University of New England will be conducting science workshops at the Lansdowne School on Thursday, May 3. The school will stop for their Anzac service at 10.45 then continue with the Science Day. Students from Mitchells Island and Upper Lansdowne schools will also be joining Lansdowne for the day.
The following Lansdowne students who were successful at the Lansdowne District PSSDA cross country and have made it through to compete at zone level at Wingham Sporting Complex on the May 4.
- 8/9 Years Boys: Thomas Newman – second.
- 10 Years Boys: Hayden Callaghan – first, Lachlan Callaghan – fourth.
- 12/13 Years Girls: Alana Goodwin – third, Kayla O’Connor – fourth.
- 12/13 Years Boys: Connor Potts – first.
Community hall
Lansdowne Community Hall Markets where held Easter Saturday in beautiful weather and wonderful surroundings. Lots of visitors from around the area attended and enjoyed the social and friendly atmosphere socialising with friends and neighbours and purchasing lots of goodies from the stall holders. The children had a chocolate Easter Egg hunt, helped by the Lansdowne Fire brigade members. The musical entertainment by Heath Watts was enjoyed by everyone. Both Ron on the barbecue and the ladies in the kitchen were kept extremely busy through out the morning.
