Council's director water services, Brendan Guiney thanked the community for their support during the period of water restrictions.
“We were able to conserve water supplies during what was a very dry summer. We thank everyone who followed the water restrictions throughout February," he said.
"The rain that fell this week has significantly increased the flow in our rivers. As a result we're replenishing the water storages associated with our five water supplies, the Manning, which also supplys parts of the Great Lakes, Gloucester, Bulahdelah, Stroud and Tea Gardens.”
MidCoast Water Services constantly monitors weather conditions, river levels and water use and does implement restrictions when required.
"While we have only been in water restrictions four times since the year 2000, we greatly appreciate the community's understanding and participation in water restrictions when they are necessary" Mr Guiney added.
MidCoast Water Services is nearing completion on a project to improve our region's water security and reduce reliance on Manning River flows for the main water supply.
The Nabiac inland dune aquifer water supply project is due for completion in November 2018 and consists of a borefield and water treatment plant for water extracted from the Nabiac aquifer.
