Re: Electoral Legislation Amendment (Electoral Funding and Disclosure Reform) Bill 2017

The Senate is due to consider legislation aimed at intimidating those of us who donate to non-government organisations such as GetUp or conservation groups.

It's the latest attempt by the Coalition to shut down opposition and stifle debate.

The proposal would see people who donate $5 or more a week being made to sign a statutory declaration.

Big corporations can spend millions on advertising and lobbying, and they aren't being targeted and won't be affected.

For a government supposedly against red tape this mob seem pretty happy to try and tie up those who disagree with their policies.

I urge all readers to contact the ALP Senators for NSW to urge them to oppose these measures that Mussolini would have been proud of.
