The project kicked off this week, and involves restoring the road pavement along a stretch of Gloucester Road starting at Bo Bo Creek Bridge and continuing one kilometre south towards The Bucketts Way.
“Our road rehabilitation program aims to improve safety on our local roads, and the current project will deliver a positive outcome for Gloucester Road users”, Daniel Park, MidCoast Council’s manager of operations (north), said.
“Along with widening the lanes, the scope of the works includes repairing the ageing road pavement, finishing with a seven millimetre primer and two coat bitumen seal to deliver a smoother and safer driving surface”.
Council crews will commence on site this week to clear trees in preparation for the wider road pavement, with the project due for completion mid-April, weather permitting.
Lane closures will be required for the duration of the project, with the work being conducted under traffic control throughout the day, and two-way traffic resuming after hours. Motorists are asked to observe all signage, reduced speed limits and directions from road crews, and to travel with caution in the area.
