This was the only game played last weekend with the competition resuming on Saturday. Wingham briefly led the competition after the previous round when Macquarie lost to Taree West. However, a loss to United, also in a deferred game, cost Wingham the chance to cement the top berth.
Macquarie now has 53 points and are clear of Wingham on 48 while United remain on 46, along with Kempsey club, Nulla.
The top four have opened a gap on the fifth placed Port City and Rovers from Kempsey on 41 while Taree West, after consecutive wins to start 2018, move to 40.
Wauchope RSL have slumped to eighth with 36 points while Port Panthers are the only side out of semi-final contention and sit in last place on 16 points.
