Last July a car crashed into the front of the building, causing major damage to the century-old brickwork.
However, since Christmas the cottage has undergone extensive repairs and a make-over, and the results are quite stunning.
The gift shop has been opened-up and rearranged to allow visitors to meander from room to room, as they take in the huge variety of locally made gifts and decor laid out before them.
The hallway has been transformed and is now a stunning gallery featuring paintings by local artists, while bright new lighting throughout the building enhances the changes. New sections have been created throughout the centre and these include a range of modern, hand painted china, a new pottery section and some very creative woodwork.
The newly tiled verandah is decked out with delightful plants for sale including a range of bromeliads from a local grower at very competitive prices. The profits from the sale of potted plants are donated to charity.
Taree Craft Cottage is located on the corner of High and Pulteney streets, Taree and is open from 9.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday.
The Cottage Café will also re-open on Monday, January 29 and operates five days per week for morning teas and light lunches from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
