These installations will help Old Bar Tennis Club to remain viable and focus the club’s funds on facility upgrades and maintenance of the tennis courts.
Solar panels will produce an additional 20.8 kwh per day per year. The Tesla battery system will store surplus energy generated for use when needed, particularly at night when lighting for the five tennis court is used.
This capacity allows the club to be administered more economically. The federal funds come under the federal Coalition government’s Stronger Communities program, which supports the Coalition’s commitment to deliver social benefits across Australia by funding small capital projects in each of the 150 federal electorates.
The program’s intended outcomes are to improve participation and contribute to vibrant and viable communities. Round 3 of the program will provide $22.5 million in 2017-18, $150,000 to each electorate.
A 2.7 kilometre upgrade of Diamond Beach Road at Hallidays Point is now complete in time for the peak holiday season. Mid Coast Council has just undertaken a $2.6 million full rehabilitation of the existing pavement of Diamond Beach Road between Black Head Road and Diamond Beach Drive, including widening and improvements to drainage.
The project used $1.4 million in federal funding through the Coalition government’s Roads to Recovery program. The project would better cater to increased traffic and provide a safer route for cyclists. I’m delighted to see how much this road will be improved when work winds up over the coming days.
At a federal level, we’ve increased funding for a number of programs, including Roads to Recovery, which is delivering millions of dollars for local road projects in the Mid Coast Council area.
From the 2013-2014 financial year to the 2020-2021 financial year the Australian government will provide $4.4 billion under the Roads to Recovery program.
