Chatham High School students create yarn bombing project on Victoria Street, Taree

You may have noticed parts of Victoria Street are slightly more colourful, albeit temporarily.

Year 10 visual arts students from Chatham High School have created street art, known as yarn bombing, which involved the decoration of street fixtures with multi-coloured knitted squares.

They were also encouraged to discuss their art with passers-by.

One passer-by stopped to donate some Christmas themed decorations to add to the display.

Visual arts teacher Michelle Pellew said the work is to give students an authentic approach to their unit of study.

The students were given the opportunity to complete the project by MidCoast Council’s Vibrant Spaces initiative.

The project is expected to up for about one week.
