The upgraded 2017 Nissan 370Z Nismo is the second Nismo-branded performance model to arrive in Australia – following the hard-core GT-R – and elevates the driving character of the ageing, retro-flavoured 370Z with more power, chassis modifications and visual upgrades both inside and out.
The Nismo 370Z sits at the top of a revised range for the iconic Zed car.
The Nismo model is only offered in the hard top body style and comes with an exclusive body kit and 19-inch lightweight forged alloy wheels to identify it from the regular coupe, while the interior features figure-hugging Recaro sports seats and Alcantara trim highlights.
Otherwise, it comes equipped with all the standard gear offered on the other models including a seven-inch colour touchscreen with sat nav, Bluetooth connectivity and a Bose audio system with active noise cancelling function.
The Nismo 370Z has a slightly modified version of the 3.7-litre naturally-aspirated V6 from the other models with a unique H-style exhaust system that reduces back pressure by up to 30 per cent.

With tweaks to the engine’s computer module, the engine generates 8kW and 8Nm more, taking its peak outputs to 253kW and 371Nm without increasing its claimed fuel consumption of 10.6L/100km.
It’s both a reminder of how quickly sports cars have evolved in the last decade and yet also how engaging it is to drive something that’s more analogue than today’s digitized hot hatches.
First of all, the 370Z was first launched in 2009 and not much has changed since then. The Nismo coupe amplifies all the great elements of the rear-drive machine, from its raucous, unrefined engine through to its slick six-speed manual transmission, from its sweet hydraulic steering to its stiffened suspension.
It’s a great car, and one that is genuinely fun and engaging to drive for enthusiasts. For those that still appreciate wearing an analogue watch, its retro flavour matches its retro design.
