The branch works in electronic design for trains and has been nominated for their innovation of illuminated driver desks.
This is part of a Tangara trains technology upgrade program in Sydney.
Electronics engineer Paul Boere said the culture of Australian Rail Technology and an enthusiasm for engineering motivates staff to produce innovative technology.
“We try to keep up with all innovations,” Paul said.
Paul added that a key factor to his enjoyment of train engineering is watching the life cycle of a product (from a prototype to a finished item).
The branch started out creating data loggers and vigilant systems.
They then began to include signalling and electronic design work.
The team complete equipment testing and contracted overseas jobs at the Taree site.
Paul moved to Taree in 2011 to begin work with Australian Rail Technology.
The business took out the excellence in innovation award at the Mid North Coast Regional Business Awards.
The NSW Business Chamber Awards will be held on Friday, November 17 at the International Convention Centre in Sydney.
