A spokesperson for TAFE NSW has confirmed that the Great Lakes TAFE will continue to provide education, amid growing concerns that TAFE NSW is moving to sell off more sites.
“TAFE NSW is committed to delivering high quality training in the Great Lakes and provides a full range of services at TAFE NSW Great Lakes located at 1 Northern Parkway, Tuncurry,” the spokesperson said.
“TAFE NSW currently holds a vacant lot located on Taree Street, Tuncurry. This site has not been used by TAFE NSW for the delivery of services for over a decade, with the last remaining Department of Education and Communities (DEC) staff relocated from the site over 12 months ago."
In NSW, government reforms and funding changes have been blamed for TAFE losing up to 100,000 students and 5000 jobs since 2012 as well as the sale and closure of a number of TAFE campuses.
