Police will allege at about 10.15am on Saturday, October 14, a 15-year-old boy armed with a kitchen knife, entered a newsagency on Mudford Street and allegedly threatened a 66-year-old woman working in the store, before knocking her to the ground.
He then allegedly punched and kicked the woman before dragging her around the shop by her hair.
The teenager has then allegedly stolen cigarettes and ran from the store.
The woman was treated for a fractured cheek bone, bruising and a laceration to her arm and taken to Manning Base Hospital for treatment.
Police from Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced investigations.
Following inquiries, about 1.50pm Tuesday, October 17, officers attended a home in Taree and arrested a 15-year-old teen.
He was taken to Taree Police Station in the company of a support person and charged with robbery whilst armed.
Further inquiries also led to an additional charge of aggravated break, enter and steal being laid in relation to an alleged break-in at a medical centre on Sunday, October 15.
The teen was refused bail to appear at a Children’s Court Wednesday, October 18.
