Major shopping chains already have an abundance of Christmas goodies on display and for sale, and planning for end-of-year celebrations are well underway including a seniors’ Christmas concert organised by local member, Stephen Bromhead.
For the first time Myall Lakes seniors will have the opportunity to sing along to their favourite carols at the Christmas extravaganza being held at the Manning Entertainment Centre on Friday, November 17.
Two concerts will be held on the day; one at 10.30am and the second concert starting at 2pm.
The highly anticipated concert will be exclusive to locals over 60 years-of-age.
“Securing the Seniors Christmas Concert is a win for our local seniors who will enjoy the benefits of a full-scale production and fun day out leading up to the Christmas season,” Mr Bromhead said.
“I encourage all local residents aged 60 years and over to secure tickets early so they don’t miss out.”
Minister for Ageing, Tanya Davies said the seniors Christmas concert toured different locations each year, to ensure as many seniors as possible could attend.
“I can’t wait to visit Taree. These concerts are a great way for seniors to share in the spirit of Christmas and I am excited to sing my heart out with local seniors from the area,” Mrs Davies said.
“It is important, especially at Christmas time, for seniors to make new friends, get together with old ones, remain socially connected and be valued for their lifelong contribution.”
The 2017 Christmas Concerts are an initiative under the NSW Ageing Strategy 2016-2022 and have been held since 2013, replacing the Premier’s Christmas Gala Concert in Sydney.
This year the touring concert also will visit Port Macquarie, Grafton and Queanbeyan.
