The teen from Wagga Wagga and his family were brought to the Bathurst 1000 thanks to Make-A-Wish.
Jaiden has been a long-time Supercars fan so when asked what his wish was, the answer was easy – go to the Bathurst 1000, meet a driver and get a close-up look at their car.
“This is the first time I’ve been to a race,” he said as he entered the Nissan Motorsport garage to meet driver Rick Kelly. “I wanted to get up close to the cars and the drivers.”
Mr Kelly said he was only too happy to give Jaiden and his family – siblings Emily, 14, and Tylah, 7, and their parents James and Kate Martin – a tour around the car and pit garage.
“I was a bit excited, he [Mr Kelly] was really nice and he showed me inside the car,” Jaiden said.
Jaiden and his father have been Supercars fans for many years.
“We’ve been watching all the races since 2006,” Jaiden said.
Mr Martin said it was a dream come true for Jaiden to be taken to the Bathurst 1000.
“We’d never be able to have afforded to pay for something like this,” he said.
