It is now up to the newly formed council to ensure it becomes the best in NSW, Cr McWilliams says.
With more than two decades experience in local government, Cr McWilliams is looking forward to the challenges of working with a new council.
“All I want is for a cohesive council and a council which is financially viable for all concerned.”
But, at the same time Cr McWilliams is keen to ensure that each of the three areas maintain their uniqueness.
She emphasised residents and not councillors were the ones who counted most.
The former Great Lakes mayor said she was both proud and delighted members of the community believed she was worthy of a place on the new MidCoast Council.
“I am particularly elated that my staunch supporters backed me up,” she said.
“I thank everyone who supported me; it made me feel really proud.”
She said the final result had proved that the new council was not Forster-centric as many claimed.
Cr McWilliams also is keen to ensure the general manager, Glenn Handford retains his position.
