The Dairy Farmers’ Picnic was held to celebrate the village’s win as the NSW Legendairy Capital 2017.
Approximately 200 people turned out for the picnic party which, says organiser Graham Bird, “was good, for Hannam Vale”. Among those 200 were federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie, and state Member for Port Macquarie Lesley Williams.
“It was wonderful. We had a good turn out, considering that it wasn’t the best of days. We were very pleased with it.”

A barbecue, baked goods and a cuppa were available for picnickers at a small cost, and while this helped raise a little amount to go toward the Hannam Vale Recreation Reserve Trust, it wasn’t the goal of the event.
“it was more about celebrating the fact that Hannam Vale and surrounds, like the whole of Stewarts River valley, is a key dairying district in not just the Mid North Coast, but NSW,” Mr Bird said.
