Author Joel Wakely will launch his new book "The Passion for Holden" at Harrington Library on Tuesday, August 29 from 1.30pm.
Following the success of his previous book “Legends of the 48-215”, an in depth racing history of the very first Holden model, Joel will present his new book as well as signing and selling copies at Taree and Harrington Libraries.
The book explains the history of Holden and the challenges the company faced throughout seven decades of manufacturing in Australia.
It also depicts 48 special car stories being shared by other car enthusiasts.
What makes this book unique is the collection of over 300 pictures of prototypes, experimental and modified race car models.
Many of these images have never been displayed and were selected by the author to give a visual display of classic Holden cars manufactured in Australia between 1946 and 2017.
Library events officer Danielle Donnelly said the event will appeal to all car enthusiasts.
"We're very pleased to be able to support our local authors and provide a platform for the community to learn more about their work,” she said.
“This book will appeal to those who have a passion for cars, regardless of whether you’re a Holden fan.”
Mr Wakely will also hold a talk at Taree Library on Thursday, August 31 at 1.30pm.
