The kitty for the Taree Riverbank Stage Project holds $52,300 and it is hoped Manning Valley businesses will now rally to kick in cash to boost the bank balance to $100,000.
Project committee members recently celebrated a $50,000 windfall after MidCoast Council approved its application for Stronger Communities funding, boosting donations received during its crowd funding campaign on ReadyFundGo. The goal now is to try to boost the bank balance to $100,000 and project director Ken Raison is challenging the business community to pledge funds and says “one prominent real estate agent has already pledged $500.”

“The challenge is to other agencies in Taree to match him,” Ken said.
“Let’s not stop there – we challenge the hoteliers/moteliers who will directly benefit from the stage’s construction and use to match the challenge of the real estate agencies.
“What about the cafe operators too? In fact, the challenge is going out to all local businesses who will benefit from the spin-offs.”
Queen Elizabeth Park is the site mooted for the multi-purpose stage that could host musical and theatre productions, outdoor cinema events and civic and sporting presentations.
Performers are backing the bid with musicians Kyle and Jesse Shilling and comedian Andy Saunders featuring in a promotional video.
Ken is hopeful the business community will back the project and says “every little bit helps”.
