Peak industries and business group, and those who have an interest in regional economic development and employment, will be invited to attend information sessions being held at Gloucester and Bulahdelah (Monday July 24), Taree (Tuesday July 25) and Forster (Wednesday July 26).
The development of consistent REDS across State regions is the initiative of the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, through the Centre for Economic and Regional Development (CERD).
CERD is working closely with local councils to roll out the preparation of REDS, which apply standardised regional economic development methodology to identify existing economic strengths, new opportunities to enhance the region's development, performance and competitiveness and to set the region on a path to sustainable economic development.
"We are very pleased to be working closely with the NSW Government to develop the REDS for the MidCoast region and to be one of the first regions in NSW to do so,” MidCoast Council's manager of growth, economic development and tourism, Deb Tuckerman said.
“The REDS will help us provide the evidence we need to attract State resources to underpin regionally significant economic projects and create employment in our region."
The information sessions will provide a guide to the process that will be followed to develop the REDS including the opportunities for key local industry and business groups to contribute to the development of the strategy.
The information sessions will be held at:
- Bulahdelah School of Arts - Monday July 24, 11am - 1pm;
- Gloucester Council office - Monday July, 24, 5.30pm - 7.30pm;
- Taree Council office - Tuesday July, 25, 5.30pm - 7.30pm;
- Forster Council office - Wednesday July, 26, 5.30pm - 7.30pm.
