Well, that would be Daniel Connell they’re talking about – the very comedian who will be MC at this year’s Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow on June 16 at the Manning Entertainment Centre.
A man of many talents, Daniel is a writer for Network Ten’s “The Project”, and creator of a number of solo stand-up shows, and his signature style of left-field, laconic wit has The Age remarking: “After an hour in his company you're chilled out and smiling, damned if I know how he does it.”
Daniel Connell could easily be described as the ideal Aussie comedian; affable, loveable and hilarious. His observational, dry, often unanticipated comedy has seen him take to stages all over the country.
Daniel first launched himself into the comedy world’s face in 2009 in Canberra’s Green Faces emerging comedian competition, winning the Canberra heat and placing third in the national final.
His debut in the 2010 Melbourne International Comedy Festival was in the sell-out ACT showcase show Capital Punishment.
He returned to the 2011 festival after being hand-picked to feature in The Comedy Zone, a platform for emerging comics on their way up.
In 2012 he debuted his first solo stand-up show, “Likeable Enough” at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, then returned to the MICF with his second solo show “Mr Personality 1988″, and “Dodgem Car Saviour” in 2014
In 2015, Daniel performed “The Get Out Stakes”, a show about his struggles with a gambling addiction all around the country, following it up last year with his acclaimed show “Resting Face’.
This year he wowed Melbourne with his new show “Stacks On”, and now we get him all to ourselves as MC for our leg of the Roadshow tour.
In Taree he’ll be joined by the Uk’s Adam Hess, Tessa Waters, David Quirk and Dilruk Jaysinha. It’s one funny show that you won’t want to miss!
