Matches will start today, with the finals scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
Taree Touch president Graham Goodwin said the 16 girls, coached by Luke Murray and Jenna Rowsell, were semi-finalists at the Hunter Championships a fortnight ago, beating the powerful Manly side on the way.
The 16 boys, coached by Scott Jacklin and Geoff Pensini also have a solid roster, although they have been hit by injury.
“Jarod Gibson is one of their main attacking weapons but he picked up a shoulder injury at the Hunter Championships. Hopefully he’ll be right,’’ Goodwin said.
The sides started training for this weekend last October and all were involved in the Taree gala day and the Hunter Championships. However, Goodwin warned this is a step up in class.
Parramatta and Many are very strong – they’d have hundreds of kids to pick from in each division,’’ he said.
