THOUSANDS of dollars worth of stock have been stolen from Harrington-based family business Stones Oysters and Seafood.

In the earlier hours of this morning (Monday, October 17) thieves ransacked the business’s cool room, taking around 100 kilos of prawns, worth between $2000 to $3000.
Around 140 dozen oysters well also stolen, which is a loss of around $2000 to the business.
Marlena Stone of Stones Oysters and Seafood, said she fears the prawns and oysters will be sold off by the thieves.
Marlena, who is the daughter in-law of the owner of Stones Oysters and Seafood, said ‘it’s a huge blow for a small business’.
“We can’t even trade today, because they’ve trashed the place, by throwing things everywhere,” she said.
“We’re losing even more from not trading today.”
The front door, back door and cool room door were all damaged in the break-in.
The business has CCTV, however, the power had been turned off.
Forensics visited the business this morning.
A number of other Harrington-based businesses were also broken into over the weekend.
Police said investigations are continuing.
