What we can all agree on, is, it’s not easy.
Taree Toastmasters is offering a ‘Speechcraft’ course to give you the skills and confidence to overcome this fear. The course starts November 3 and runs from 7pm to 9.30pm.
Over four weeks, every Thursday, attendees will be mentored and supported by experienced club members.
You will learn:
- How to structure and write a speech
- Getting your point across
- Using emotion, vocal variation and body language
- Giving and receiving feedback
- How to manage the anxiety
Colin Steber, a Taree businessman who is a prominent Toastmaster, said the Speechcraft course is a very concise, effective way to learn the foundations and basic tools of public speaking.
Colin, who is operations manager at Steber International, is a former Taree club president and now Area Director of Toastmasters.
“Learning these tools gave me the confidence I wanted as a leader and manager, and also in my volunteer and community roles - places where I often needed to speak,” Colin said.
“It brought out the professional speaker I knew I could become but was held back by nervousness.
“It also developed my sense of fun. I often come home from Toastmasters with my jaw aching from laughing so much. Because Toastmasters is such a supportive environment, you develop your skills as a direct result of the experience."
