THE Taree netball under 13 squad training started in October and by February teams were finalised and the hard intense training started.
The first carnival was in March and have players not looked back. They had a tough 2015 State Age and are looking to redeem themselves this year. Taree 13s Representative side consists of Ashlee Smith (captain), Samantha Chicken (Vice-captain), Abbie Gaul, Lara Slade, Akala Bungie, Katelyn Page, Jazmin Campbell, Sarah Christian, Nathalie Doyle, Jessica Eagles and Ellie McLeay. Jess and Ellie are late editions after the loss of Akala and Nathalie to the team, but they both worked hard and gave there all. The team had five carnivals at which the girls have improved at each and every one of these. They are stepping up and all becoming very versatile players around the court.
Ashlee leads the team around the court primarily in centre, and GA, Samantha is a pivotal part of the circle whether it be in GD or GA. Abbie has proved to be strong in WA and more recently centre. Lara is unstoppable in defence and is able to step up and shoot when required, Katelyn is amazing at shutting down the WA opposition playing a strong WD.
Jazmin and Ellie both play strong GK and GS and also love to go for a run out in the middle at which they are more than able, and also add some height to the mid court, Sarah is strongest at WD and more recently has shown some great signs at WA and Jess is being thrown all over the court, but is making some great inroads in the shooting circle and WA areas.
