Ten garden clubs from the Hunter region were represented at the gathering, offering good wishes to George on his term as president of the GCA, the organisation to which they are all affiliated and also on his three awards, which were presented for "Outstanding contribution to the community, the arts and gardening."
House manager, Alison Wellings, welcomed the party and CEO, Ross Bingham, thanked George for his ongoing support of the house, to date raising more than $40,000 in conjunction with the Killabakh Garden Club.
George was first introduced to the house on a garden club visit 10 years ago and was immediately impressed by the facilities on offer, and the compassion provided by the staff and volunteers. The house provides comfort, care and accommodation to seriously ill or injured children and their families from across the Mid North Coast.
Ronald McDonald House Newcastle celebrates its 25th birthday in 2016 and George will once again open his garden, hosting another Art in the Garden Event on Sunday April 24, with all proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House.
