The award is open to all Fairfax regional and rural cadet journalists in New South Wales, Queensland and Northern Territory and is a memorial to the late Pat Riggs, former editor of the Macleay Argus. Pat was highly respected by the community she served and had a passion for mentoring young journalists.
Laura is the third journalist editor Toni Bell has had the privilege to successfully nominate for this award. Laura joins James Law (Wingham Chronicle - 2007) and Hayley Williams (Manning River Times - 2011).
