Participants gathered in the agency’s auction room for the launch and the first official weight-in.
Jayne gave the crowd a rev-up with a slideshow giving people an understanding of the rules of the competition and also opportunities for group fitness sessions over the next 12 weeks.
She also alluded to a hugely exciting announcement that will be made in coming weeks and apologises that she couldn’t tell everyone about it just yet.
Once registered and weighed-in, team photos were taken (for those teams who has all members there) and information packs distributed.
Jayne would like to see more people get on board, as many have been reluctant due to the $80 entry fee. “Your health is one of your most important assets and we tend to spend a lot of money on things that we could probably save,” she said.
“If health is a goal for you and you need to lose a couple of kilos this could be the motivator to keep you on track.”
The aim of the competition is to promote better lifestyles in the Manning area with a challenge that focuses on weight control and camaraderie, and to raise as much money as possible for the Taree PCYC.
Team members already registered started the challenge on the weekend with enthusiasm and motivation and will work as teams to maintain that motivation until the final weigh-in on November 23.
The challenge is also running again in Forster, organised by Fitness2428, and there will be some opportunities for competition between the two areas.
