ANZAC Day in Taree will commemorate that day 100 years ago, when thousands of brave young men went ashore on a foreign beach in a far distant land. In a display of courage, determination and mateship these Australians and New Zealanders created a legend which, when retold, evokes pride and passion in a new generation of Australians.

April 25 2015 will mark the centenary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during World War I. We will remember not only the original Anzacs who served at Gallipoli and the Western Front, but commemorate more than a century of service by Australian servicemen and women.
The timing for the Taree dawn service is set for 4.45am with its symbolic links to the landing at Gallipoli, those quiet, peaceful moments before dawn will feature a special tribute to those who served from the Manning area with a special commemoration and wreath laying ceremony.
The dawn service at the memorial clock in Fotheringham Park begins at 4.45am. Veterans and the community will gather in the pre-dawn darkness to pay their respects and lay wreaths in honour of fallen soldiers. This year we will pay special tribute to those from Taree who paid the supreme sacrifice in the Great War.
In a major change this year to mark the Centenary of Anzac, the Taree march will begin at 10am on the corner of Victoria and Macquarie Streets. It will journey through Victoria Street before ending at Fotheringham Park.
Leading the parade will be flags of the allied nations who took part in World War I.
The flag party will consist of the local high school captains. The RSL is encouraging all service and ex-servicemen and women to march on this special occasion.
The parade and commemoration service will form the significant parts of Anzac Day commemorations in Taree. Schools and groups intending to march and those seeking further information need to contact the Taree Anzac Committee secretary Dennis Lawrence phone 6552 1541.
The commemoration service will be held in front of the memorial clock in Victoria Street commencing at 10.30am.The community and veterans will come together to pay their respects and lay wreaths in honour of fallen soldiers.
In another major change in the event of wet weather the venue for the dawn and commemoration service will be in the lower car park at Club Taree on Wingham road.
The Taree Anzac Day Parade remains a significant commemorative event on one of Australia's most important national days. It complements the Dawn and Memorial Services, as well as regional parades.
