After raising $6360 in 2014, the group sat down for a social afternoon tea, for its last meeting of the year.
The afternoon's activities included an opening hymn, a quiz, entertainment by Miss Saigon vocalist Mary Camphius, a screening of the film 'The Hidden People', afternoon tea and a report by the auxiliary's treasurer, Ann Osmand.
Ann designed the 60th anniversary tea towel, sold for $10 at the event.
Her design was inspired by the Taree area.
The centrepiece is a tree representative of Taree, based on the Aboriginal word "Tareebit", meaning "fruit of the wild fig".
Within the tree holds the countries supported by the Leprosy Mission, including those assisted by the Taree group this year, such as Papa New Guinea, Timor Leste, Nepal and India. Above the tree, are the words "Dignity, Opportunity, Hope", illustrative of what is given back to leprosy sufferers with the mission's support.
Below are the dates "1954-2014", the years Taree Leprosy Mission has been in operation.
The tea towel was printed by local screen printer 'Fabart'.
Phyllis Smith, president of the auxiliary, said they "believe in local." The Christian based group's main fundraising comes from its bus trips exploring the local region.
These trips are held three to four times a year, often to a full bus load. In past trips the auxiliary has visited Croker Oars and Wingham Museum.
The group encourages new members to join for the new year.
