The offences allegedly all occurred in the Taree area since 2011.
Police from the Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command began an investigation in 2013 after they received information about the allegations.
As a result of their extensive inquiries, yesterday detectives arrested a 37-year-old man at a Taree address on Tuesday.
He was taken to Taree Police Station, where he was charged with seven counts of having sexual intercourse with a person with a cognitive impairment; and six counts of aggravated sexual assault – victim with cognitive impairment.
The man was refused bail to appear before Forster Local Court today.
Meanwhile, inquiries are continuing; and police are appealing for anyone with information that may assist the ongoing investigation to come forward.
