Larkin is currently in his second stint playing in Ireland with the North Down Knights club. He scored a double century opening for the Knights last year.
"The selectors have chosen a nice blend of youth and experience," Ireland coach Phil Simmons said.
"There's a first opportunity at this level for Nick Larkin who looked impressive when I watched him last week. The players are all working hard as they know there are World Cup places up for grabs. It's a chance of a lifetime for the guys and they all naturally want to be a part of.''
Larkin, 23, is coming off a highly successful season with the Sydney University club. He was the side's leading run scorer while Sydney Uni won the premiership.
Larkin also played for NSW in the Futures League along with the State Second XI, where he scored 113 against ACT in the final game.
He'll be in Ireland for five months.
