That is the advice of acclaimed placemaker, David Engwicht to Greater Taree City Council and CBD retailers. He says there are various levels of involvement they should try to use:
1. Basic: Erect a display of stock outside the shop or if the business is a cafe, put a table and chair outside.
2. Imaginative: Create a setting on the street that feels nice to be seated in.
3. Generous: Do something that is not related to your business but enlivens the street and gives people a reason to stop, interact and socialise. For example, placing a chess set at a table setting.
