This year's campaign theme "Celebrate the Power of Volunteering" was all about appreciating and understanding the work of volunteers here in the Manning Valley and across the nation.
Council, along with many other local organisations, relies on the support of volunteers to ensure certain services are available to the community.
To recognise the important contribution volunteers make to the community, council hosted a barbecue lunch in Harry Bennett Park in Taree on Friday, (May 16) and invited anyone who is involved in volunteering to go along.
Gordon Meldrum addressed the gathering before local performer Tasha Burton entertained the crowd.
Val Audet then talked about life as a volunteer, followed by mayor Paul Hogan addressing the crowd and thanking all the local volunteers.
