Old Bar Pirates Rugby League Club and Old Bar Clams Rugby Club along with Old Bar Cricket Club were the initial users. The football clubs moved there when a fire destroyed the amenities block at the former headquarters, Old Bar Park.
However a wet winter made the playing surface virtually unplayable and both were forced to switch games to other venues.
The Pirates moved back to Old Bar Park when a new amenities block was finished last year and the club hosted matches in the Group Three semi-final series for the first time. The junior Pirates played at the Trad Complex. Old Bar Clams didn't field a team in the Lower North Coast competition last year but will return this season. However, the league/union field doesn't appear to be in as bad shape as the cricket field.
Old Bar Barbarians moved to the complex last year and also ran into trouble with wet weather.
