Six sides, North Coast, Western, Illawarra/Southern, Riverina, Central North and Newcastle/Central Coast will contest the two day championship. Matches will be played on turf wickets at Johnny Martin Oval, Chatham Park and the Trad Complex at Old Bar. T/20s will be played, starting at 9am tomorrow. The final will be at Johnny Martin Oval on Sunday.
Western is the defending champion.
This is the first time the championship has been played here and a Country side will be named to play City at the conclusion of the event.
"Council is pleased to be able to host this championship," Greater Taree City Council's team leader tourism and public relations Donna Hudson said.
Country Cricket NSW program manager Bruce Whitehouse is delighted to see the championships in the Manning Valley.
"Greater Taree Council is a fantastic supporter of sport and in particular cricket, and Country Cricket NSW is most appreciative of council's support,'' he said.
"I couldn't think of a better venue to host this prestigious event. There could be some future Lend-Lease Breakers and even Australian players on display.''
Meanwhile Wingham's Maitlan Brown will be a member of the North Coast open women's side to play in the Country Championships in Port Macquarie this weekend.
