The newest member is Jo-Ann Keen, who has already been working hard and enjoying the company of the members.
Several visitors also were present on the night to help celebrate this event. They are full of ideas and interested in seeing how the club operates. It is hoped they will join as well.
Many of club members were presented with their first year pins of service, however, particular mention must be made of Robyn Roberson who was presented with her 20 year pin. Such a wonderful achievement to have served Lions for such a long time.
Many things are in the planning for the future including the Old Bar Beach Festival on the October long weekend and the Garage Sales R Us day in September. Of course the egg sales each Saturday has a great following and the monthly markets always keep Lions busy.
The club is always looking for new members so think about joining an organisation that works for others and provides so much for our community.
Talk to a Lion member about what the money raised by the Lions club achieves.
Vietnam Veterans' Day
Vietnam Veterans should diarise this now. Vietnam Veterans’ Day at Old Bar, although officially Saturday August 18, 2018, will sit in the middle of a three day event.
This is an annual event at Old Bar and brings large numbers of veterans to the area which allows us to showcase some of the areas attractions.
The main ceremony will be conducted at Old Bar Public School. A dinner will be at Club Old Bar, where the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra will be live streamed and projected onto the wall of the dining room.
